More than 150 million people in the worldwide have been suffered from diabetes mellitus. In many developing countries population growth, unhealthy diet, obesity, aging, and sedentary lifestyles are the reason for this condition. Now let’s discuss in details about diabetes mellitus and the natural ways through which it can be reversed.
It is a condition caused by acquired or inherited deficiencies in the production of insulin hormone by the pancreas. Such type of deficiencies increased the levels of glucose in the blood that damages the body’s system mainly blood vessels and nerves.
There are two forms of diabetes mellitus

3. Gestational Diabetes Mellitus
This type of diabetes occurs when a woman is pregnant. The hormones produced during pregnancy increases the high sugar levels in the blood.
Common Signs and Symptoms of Diabetes Mellitus Patients are
- Excessive hunger
- Excessive thirst
- Blurred vision
- In type 1 weight loss
- In type 2 numbness, pain, or tingling sensation in hands and feet

अस्यासुखं स्वपनसुखं दधीनि ग्राम्यौदकानूपरसा: पयासि।नवान्नपानं गुडवैकृतं च प्रमेह हेतु: कफ कृ ंच सर्वम। (च। चि ६ /४)
The basic causes seen in a diabetic patient are sleeping a lot, feeling of lethargy every time, eating food items that will increase Kapha dosha in the body like curd, the meat of animals, birds, jaggery, sweets, sugar, kheer, rice etc. These things give birth to diabetes.
कफ: सपित्त: पवनश्च दोषा मेदो अस्त्र शुक्र ाम्बु वसा लसीका:
मज्जा रसौज: पिशितं च दुष्या: प्रमेहिण ां, विंशति रेव मेहा: (च। चि ६ /८)
In Prameha (Kapha, Pitta, and Vata) these three doshas, (
स्वेदो अंगगन्ध: शिथिल ांगता च शय्या सन स्वप्नसूखे रतिश्च।
हृनेत्र जिव्हाश्रवणोपदेहो घना ांगता केश नखाति वृद्धि: (च। चि ६ /१३)
शीत प्रियत्वं गलतालुशोषो माधुर्यमास्ये करपाददाह:भविष्यतो मेहगदस्य रूपं मूत्रेाभि धावन्ति पिपीलिकाश्च। (च। चि ६ /१४)
These two shlokas represents the Purvrupa (early symptoms) of prameha: Sweat, foul smell, lethargy in body, always want to sleep or sit, chest region, eyes, tongue, ears full of dirt, gaining weight, excessive hair and nail growth, desire to drink more cold water, sore throat every time, burning sensation of hands and feet, sugar loss from urine etc these all are the early symptoms seen in a prameha (diabetic) patients.
The above shloka correlates diabetes with Prameh.
