How We Can Manage Hair Fall Naturally?

Hair fall is very common but a serious problem that needs a proper diagnosis to figure out the cause leading to loss of hair. Hair fall is common in both men and women and genes play a major role in hair loss. On average one loses 100 hair a day but excessive hair loss is a cause of concern and should not be taken lightly.

Hair fall can occur at any point in an individual’s life. It could be due to nutritional deficiencies, hormonal imbalance, thyroid problem, Polycystic ovary syndrome, the side effect of birth control pills, overuse of hair styling products and being in stress. 1. Egg White Masks

The age-old way to treat hair fall is the application of egg white onto the scalp. Eggs are great source of protein, vitamins and essential nutrients like Sulphur, phosphorous, selenium, iodine, and zinc needed for healthy hair. It can be done using a hair dye brush and left on for about 20 minutes. Once dry, it can be rinsed off with cool water using a mild shampoo. A spoon of olive oil may be added to the egg whites to make a thicker paste. This natural treatment can be done twice a week.

2. Coconut Milk

Coconut milk is a great source of all nutrients especially iron, potassium and essential fats needed to prevent hair fall. Massaging it on the scalp helps in reducing hair fall eventually. Prefer fresh coconut milk, add some lemon and some drops of lavender oil to it and massage it thoroughly into the scalp. Leave on the solution for 5 hours before rinsing it off. Massages helps to stimulate blood flow to the scalp. Massage may be done with essential oils (lavender in almond or sesame oil) once a week for a couple of minutes. It helps the hair follicles remain active. One may add neem and Amla to massage oils for better results. Fenugreek seeds may be crushed and added to coconut milk for faster results.

3. Garlic Juice, Onion Juice, Ginger Juice or Potato Juice

Rubbing the scalp with garlic juice, onion juice or ginger juice and leaving it overnight helps in preventing hair loss very effectively. The juice should be rinsed off in the morning with lukewarm water. Onions contain sulfur that boosts collagen production in the tissues and helps in regrowth of the hair. Onion juice may be squeezed fresh and applied for 15 minutes instead of leaving overnight.

4. Aloe Vera Gel Massage

Massaging the scalp with Aloe Vera gel and leaving it on for few hours before washing it off with lukewarm water is a great remedy for hair fall. A mix of aloe Vera gel, coconut milk, and wheat germ oil acts as a great hair conditioner. A paste can be prepared using Aloe Vera, Indian gooseberry, Shikakai, and neem powder and applied twice a week onto the hair and scalp. The ingredient mixed in equal quantities are very effective in eliminating dandruff and providing deep nourishment to the hair, strengthening them from root to the tip.

5. Apple Cider Vinegar

A diluted solution of apple cider vinegar may be used as a final rinse after washing the hair. It gently cleanses the scalp and maintains the pH balance of the hair.

6. Green Tea

Green tea is very rich in antioxidants which boosts hair growth and prevents hair fall.  To prepare Green tea solution, just soak two to three bags of green tea in hot water and once it cools down, gently massage it onto the head. It should be left for one hour and then rinsed with normal water.

Diet for Healthy Hair

To manage hair loss, one needs to pay attention to their diet. It is very important to include proteins in everyday meals like milk, egg whites, and fish. Proteins are the building block of the tissues in our body. One also needs to include Omega 3 fatty acids in diet twice a week.

Food rich in Vitamin A should be consumed as much as possible. Vitamin A works with fat synthesis and is crucial for healthy hair. It encourages the healthy production of sebum in the scalp. Intake of Vitamin B 12 and Vitamin E rich foods should increase as they support production and circulation of red blood cells which leads to more oxygen in the body and also maintain color. It is very important to include nuts, seeds in daily diet. Vitamin C is also very essential to manage hair loss. Vitamin C is needed for the synthesis of collagen which in turn supports healthy hair.
